The Tree Cafe & Restaurant

The iconic beautiful tree, standing strong right in the middle, caught my attention to this open concept café situated at Downtown East. The Tree Café & Restaurant by White Tangerine that is located at E!hub level 3 opened just a year ago and serves Italian Western food and desserts. Being over here is so peaceful and relaxing, escaping from the hustle and bustle of life with the casual space along with the cozy sofas to rest while dining.

Dark, cooling and chilling ambience with music in the background, it is definitely an idyllic spot to have lepak sessions here after a super long day. Wooden tables with lantern candles holder and plants, they’re sticking to the overall theme of its name, The Tree.

Mushroom Soup

For all the mains here, you can make it into a meal with mushroom soup and ice lemon tea drink with an additional of $2.50. For the mushroom soup, it is quite diluted, not creamy and thick. The taste of the soup is mild and very similar to Campbell mushroom soup in a can. The ice lemon tea drink is too sweet but still refreshing.

Fish & Chips $6.90

Here comes the Fish and Chips. A long slice of crispy batter with tender flesh. Just that I think there’s a really strong fishy aftertaste and quite oily. For their tartar sauce dip, it’s the best tartar sauce dip I have ever tasted! There is a presence of herbs to the tartar sauce and it is not your typical tartar sauce, very flavourful and compliments well with the fish. The tartar sauce is made up of basil and thyme, which made it a really yummy dip. For the fries, it is served in very small quantity and very oily, like instant made packet fries that were being fried.

Bbq Chicken Steak $6.90

BBQ Chicken Steak. It is spaghetti with boneless chicken meat. Thumbs up to this meal, very affordable yet delicious. The spaghetti is quite plain but moist and nice. There is a strong taste of herbs and spices that made it tasty on its own. It is similar to Aglio Olio spaghetti, made up of olive oil, garlic and herbs like basil leaves, thyme and dried parsley. Also topped with oregano. The chicken is so yummy! Tasted like Mexican chicken that is being grilled, with a barbeque taste. Its skin is very crispy and well baked. The chicken meat is tender and soft and it is really a perfect combo with the spaghetti. I will definitely buy this again when I visit The Tree next time.

Chicken Cutlet with Butter Garlic Rice $6.90

This is the Chicken Cutlet with butter garlic rice. This is quite an ordinary and common one. The butter garlic rice is the same to those rice served at a western food stall. The chicken cutlet reminds me of the chicken cutlet sold at Tenderfresh. There is a drizzling of honey mustard sauce on top of the chicken. The salad is fresh but dressing of the salad is just mayonnaise and quite plain.

Lava Cake $8.00

Let me tell you their desserts are superb!! They have different types of cake available under their Sweet Piece collection. Their Chocolate Lava Cake is one of the best one I have ever eaten! The taste is similar to brownie but a softer version. The chocolate is super rich and the vanilla ice cream is also very milky.

The warmness of the Lava Cake and the coldness of the ice cream goes well together, like it melts in my mouth and gave a perfect harmony. The Chocolate Lava Cake is so moist. The taste is similar and definitely reminds me of Dominos Pizza molten lava cake. It is thick and perfect. So yummy that we finished it in a minute and we want more. The chocolate inside may not be oozing out but overall its yummy and sweet. Must buy!

Rainbow Cake $5.00

To be honest I’m not a big fan of rainbow cake, but this one is exceptional! The Rainbow Cake is rich in flavor and milky. It is moist, not dry and cakey at all. The cake is light and spongy. The vanilla essence taste is a tad too strong but overall this cake is delicious!! The white cream in between the layers is not that sweet and the cake on its own even without the cream is tasty! It is not the plain type of cake and definitely fluffy.

Oreo Cheesecake $6.00

The Oreo cheesecake is quite sour. It tasted similar to MacDonalds' cheesecake but a creamier version. It would also be nicer if the biscuit base of the cake is a little bit thicker.

Overall the mains here may not be the best and quite simple and ordinary, but their desserts are lovely! Maybe I would come here just to have their desserts because their cakes are definitely satisfying. And I love the fact that their mains are all affordable and pocket friendly. Well you can get some pretty decent meals here and to the Bbq Chicken Steak Spaghetti, I’m going to get you again the next time
