I Am Cafe (Tampines Hub Outlet)

I AM sure everyone is familiar with the well known I Am café outlet at Haji Lane that serves wide array of delicious food. This time round Eat.Wanders checked out their Tampines Hub outlet and tried their signature dishes that are ONLY AVAILABLE AT THIS OUTLET. The interesting smokey charcoal-grilled The Quest Burger and silky Squid Ink Pasta that gave me a strong temptation to taste them.

The Menu

I Am café is located next to HomeTeamNS at level 3 of Tampines Hub. Quite hidden on the very left side. Went there on a weekday and it wasn’t crowded (not on weekends though). Quiet ambience, spacious, cozy and air-conditioned too. It has a beautiful vintage Amsterdam-inspired interior, filled with mural art wall and road signs. The service is great, food was served quickly and the waiter took her time to explain the different dips for one of the food item stated in the menu.

The Quest Burger $18.90

Charcoal grilled The Quest Burger. The quest for this burger is finally over and fulfilled, as soon as Eat.wanders took the first luxury bite of this matcha infused burger bun, with charcoal-grilled beef patty marinated with 7 different herbs, topped with turkey bacon, in house special spicy avocado spread, a dash of truffle mayo and bbq sauce. The combination of all these gave a harmonious explosion in my mouth. It is simply delicious! For the matcha-infused burger bun, I thought that the green tea flavour is very mild and insignificant, thus it tasted like normal ordinary burger bun instead. But I like the fact that the bun is grilled, hence giving the crispy bottom. The beef patty is very juicy and succulent, each cut/bite being accompanied with the juice drizzling down. It is thick, tender and well-compressed too. There is a smoky flavour to it due to the charcoal and bbq sauce. The presence of avocado spread is distinct, therefore there is a vegetable-like taste to it. The turkey bacon is crispy, with adequate amount of crispiness. The Quest Burger is strongly recommended to try!

Squid Ink Pasta $18.90

Squid Ink Pasta. Silky black hue squid ink tonnarelli in oriental sauce topped with fresh squids. A+ for the plating of this dish, it’s beautiful and visually pleasing to the eyes. It looks super good in real life rather than the menu picture. For taste wise, the aftertaste of the sauce is quite salty and sour. Doesn’t really have a special appealing taste. There is a tinge of spiciness, but it would be nice if it is even spicier, to add on a kick to it. The bean sprouts is a good garnishing, as it added a crunch to the dish when being mixed together and balanced out the flavour of the sauce and spaghetti. The squid is being cooked just nice and soft too.

Fries & Mayo $7.90 (with Spicy Mayo Dip additional $1.50)

As a side, bought their signature Fries & Mayo, thick-cuts of crispy fries with a generous amount of mayonnaise on top. With different types of delectable dips to choose from (additional of $1.50 per dip), ranging from spicy mayo, cheese, cucumber dill, garlic aioli, sweet honey mustard, wasabi mayonnaise, chipotle tartar to horseradish mayo. So many dips to choose from! Therefore we asked the waitress to explain what some dips were and which dips are the most popular choice of people who dine here and thus spicy mayo dip was chosen! I love the fries and it was quite filling by eating this as a side. For the spicy mayo dip, nawww it’s normal and tasted like Japanese mayo plus maggi chilli sauce mixed together. But still, I love it!

Virgin Lychee Mojito $6.90

Stir It Up $6.90

The drinks were soothing and lovable too. Virgin Lychee Mojito, a drink of fresh lime plus lychee and mint leaves, very refreshing and thirst-quenching. Not forgetting the Stir It Up drink, so chocolatey and milky. Definitely a yummy drink to accompany your meal.

All in all, everything is nice and I enjoyed dining here. I would definitely and love to come back for the Quest Burger, sedap ah please. I am satisfied too and I hope to try out more dishes from I Am café in the future! Keep on rocking with the good food!

p.s take note that there is a service charge of $6.10 here
