Gentlemen Wanton's Menu

Chanced upon this café while walking around the mall and it really fascinated me to try eating the food here. It is a very mini store with rustic feel interior, with three wooden tables and stools for dine in. There is also a mini kitchen where we can see the cook prepares the food on the spot. What attracted me was the big logo of Gentlemen Wanton on the wall, along with the gentlemen rules stated.

While dining, I noticed that many customers bought many takeaways of their noodle. Gentlemen Wanton also provides delivery option for their delicious food.

Popiah Mak Aku (Popiah Basah) $2.00/pc

Popiah Mak Aku. Literally meant my mum’s popiah when translated, and anyone who see this on the menu would giggle cutely because of its name. It is a fresh vegetable spring roll and I think the mum itself prepared this dish with her own special secret recipe. It is served as a long roll that is being cut into three. The first bite of the popiah basah got me feeling on cloud nine! It is tasty and very moist with juicy filling. There isn’t any weird aftertaste, definitely fresh. The filling consists of freshest ingredients and vegetables like carrot, sweet turnip (sengkuang), boiled egg and crabmeat. Topped with a dressing of rojak gravy made of sambal and peanuts. The rojak gravy also has a strong distinctive taste that compliments well with the popiah. Honestly I’m not a fan of popiah basah, but this one is exceptional, really nice and I love it. The popiah overall is soft and flavourful, a great food to start my meal over here.

Wanton Blackpepper Chicken Noodle $6.00

Wanton Black Pepper Chicken Noodle. This is my favourite and my regular choice!! The noodle is soft, with the right consistency and texture that is easy to digest. The noodle soya sauce is a lot, an adequate amount of sauce being put thus making it not dry. Mix the noodle and sauce together and you are ready to endeavour this delicious noodle. Being cooked on the spot and served hot, very syiokkk. The fried wanton is crispy and definitely homemade. It has a signature special taste on its own. The blackpepper chicken is da bomb. It has a mild spiciness and the taste of the blackpepper is very strong. Well marinated and seasoned, it is simply delicious. The blackpepper chicken tasted similar to a blackpepper pasta sauce. The noodle with the blackpepper chicken is a perfect combination. The wanton noodle is also served with a spring onion soup, that does not tasted plain on its own when

being slurped. Overall the wanton noodle is very tasty and feels like a homemade

comfort food.

Wanton Chicken Noodle $5.50

This is the Wanton Chicken Noodle. The noodle is served with big fried chicken cuts that is very crispy yet tender on the inside. Crunchy skin with juicy flesh. Those that don’t fancy spicy food or want to go for a classic wanton noodle would love this. There is also a presence of soy taste to the chicken. Overall everything is light and soothing, the noodle and wanton is light and the chicken does not overpower the noodle. Definitely delicious too!

Wanton Sambal Bbq Chicken Noodle $6.00

This Wanton Sambal Bbq Chicken Noodle is also nice! There is an interesting yummy aftertaste. There is a smoky taste to the chicken due to the

barbeque flavour.

Rojak Keropok $5.00

This is Gentlemen Wanton’s Rojak Keropok, which includes green & red apple cuts, fish crackers, char kuay and banana slices (yes you read it right, includes banana slices, unique isn’t it). The Rojak gravy is tasty, with the right amount of sweetness and spiciness. The gravy’s paste is not so overpowering, thus it is just right with a well-balanced taste.

Chicken Wings In A Basket $8.00

Chicken Wings In A Basket. There are three flavours of chicken wing available which are Blackpepper, Sambal Bbq and Sambal Honey wings. 8 pieces of wings in a basket, in which you can request to mix two flavours. The ones above is a mix of Blackpepper and Sambal Honey wings. Their chicken wings are juicy, well marinated and fully coated with their flavour sauce. The Blackpepper one has the same taste as the ones in the wanton noodle. For the Sambal Honey wings, the honey glaze on the wings tasted like garlic chilli, similar to Hainanese chicken rice chilli. It has a sweet taste due to the honey.

Wanton $6.00

Fried Wanton. Crispy, crunchy, light and simply delicious to be eaten just like that! Usually when we eat wanton outside, it hurts when we bite the wanton skin in our mouth, but this one is really light and the wanton skin has an interesting texture that makes it easy to bite. Golden brown crust filled with savoury filling.

Caramelized Wanton Banana With Ice Cream $5.00

Caramelized Wanton Banana, a unique dessert that you only will get here but not anywhere else. It is an interesting form of dessert that is also made of wanton for a sweet tooth like me. The golden caramelized wanton banana is very crispy and crunchy, sweet and chocolatey. Bite the wanton crust and you can already taste the banana flavour. Drizzled with generous amount of chocolate Hershey syrup and caramel sauce. Topped with an ice cream and whipped cream at the side. The hot fried wanton and cold ice cream gives a harmonious mixture in my mouth. Inside the wanton consist of banana cube cuts filling, looking similar to apple pie filling. The crunchy outer crust and the hot sweet filling inside is a match made in heaven. It tasted similar to banana fritters, but a more sweeter and milky rich version.

A must buy dessert over here!

Iced Lemon Tea $3.50

Iced Thai Milk Tea $3.50

Their drinks are served in a unique packaging. Homemade and very refreshing drinks.

All in all, I really enjoyed all the food here and trust me, once you eat the food here, you are going to come back here again for their food. Their wanton noodles have become my personal favourite and I visited Gentlemen Wanton again and again just to eat them. I personally prefer these kind of wanton noodles with various flavours of chicken for a change rather than those common ones outside that is served with char siew chicken. Their wanton noodles are not dry, with generous amount of sauce. Not only that, they also sells wanton noodles with lamb ribs and also combo platter set to be shared with a few people. Their wanton noodles has a homemade touch to it and gave me a sense of comfort when

eating it. Simply delicious and I am always satisfied with their food. Thumbs up Gentlemen Wanton!
